The Changing of the season
We had to flick on the heat a few nights ago and that ten year old girl that still hangs out in somewhere in my head waited for a moment to hear the water gush through the radiators. Growing up with those great cast iron monsters seemed like a pain at the time. You couldn’t put anything on top of them or too close to them unless you wanted them melted or scorched. But that sound of water rushing through the pipes and the smell of hot metal conjurs up images of chicken ‘n dumplings, leaf play houses, mittens and scarves, and crisp mountain apples from the roadside stand in the Blue Ridge. With a flick of the switch I’m right smack dab in the middle of girlhood again. Ain’t it grand?
Msspelligs
What is it that happened on my thirtieth birthday this year? Did the brain fairy come and steal misc. cells so that I couldn’t form a sentence any longer that didn’t come choc full of misspellings? I mean really, this is getting ridiculous. I always had an affinity for spelling and grammer and it’s suddenly all gone to pot. Maybe it was the birth of the boys. Maybe on their way out they snagged a random cluster of cells that had kept me from sounding like a bumbling idiot. All this in addition to partial trains of thought that get stuck in the station toilet and flushed into oblivion. Sigh. No wonder kids think their parents are baffoons. Did I spell that right????????
Blog block
I have blog block. Can’t seem to find anything that is worth saying. Hmmmmmmmmm. Everything in the news is so sad lately. The shool shootings, stupid hash slinging slasher pollititians, and all these weird wild fires. Good grief Charlie Brown. Perhaps tommorrow it will come and bring my grammatical prowess with it.
