That’s my dad.

Birthday

It’s your birthday today. I have never seen the sun so bright or the grass so green and you’re missing it here. I don’t imagine you mind a bit. Nothing here could ever compare to the wonders you witness every day now. I want to cook for you and make all your favorites but I wouldn’t be able to stomach a bite. I had 2 proms on your birthday. How does that happen?? In retrospect, staying home those nights and celebrating you would have been infinitely better. Not because you’re gone now but those were two of the worst nights I’d ever had. 13 years ago today, Fred asked you for my hand in marriage and all you required was an affirmation that he loved me. You knew he was the one the day he walked in the door, and a year later you gave me away knowing I was in capable hands. I am so blessed to have all of these memories of you. Tremendous beautiful moments in my life. You were always the best gift we could celebrate. Happy Birthday daddy.
